Alabama Constitution Hall Park, formerly known as Constitution Village, is a historic open-air museum and park located within the EarlyWorks complex, which is considered to be 'the South's largest hands-on history museum complex'.
This 'village' reenacts life in 1819, the year when Alabama became the 22nd state accepted into the union. It was in this very spot that 44 delegates from the constitutional convention met and signed the state into existence. Costumed guides will lead you through the village and teach you all about this famous day, the entire experience being a truly 'unique and unforgettable journey into Alabama's past'.
There are 8 reconstructed buildings here to explore, including a law office, print shop, post office, surveyors office, cabinetmakers shop, and residences of varying local lifestyles in that time. There is also an onsite library and confectionery shop to explore.
Each Christmas season the park reinvents itself as 'Santa's Village', a highly popular local event.
