Pigeon Forge has a really exciting new attraction coming this fall (2016), an attraction that allows guests to ‘explore American history from a different perspective’, one that is already shaping up to be one of the area’s top visited attractions, though it isn’t yet opened. This ‘Big House’ museum is designed half like the original Alcatraz, half like the first prison in the state of Tennessee (1898). The half and half design will give this building a hauntingly authentic feel, mixing the elements of design of a castle/fortress complete with heavy stone masonry walls with the Spanish/mission feel of Alcatraz.

Inside Alcatraz East you and your group will find everything from Bonnie and Clyde to Crime Scene Investigation, the entire establishment holding 2 floors, 25,000 square feet, and over 100 individual interactives. Inside you will be free to explore the 5 different galleries: Notorious History of American Crime, Punishment, Crime Fighting, Crime Scene Investigation, and Counterfeit Crimes and Pop Culture. This is your chance to learn all about our penal system, about victim treatment, about forensic science, about the judiciary system, and about criminal intent! Specific artifacts from the museum’s collection that will be on display include Al Capone’s rosary, Bonnie and Clyde personal items, John Dillinger’s death mask, Al Pacino’s submachine gun, an FBI polygraph machine, and items connected to the Benghazi attack. Together, all of these elements will work toward the museum’s mission, which is to provide guests of all ages with a memorable journey into the history of American Crime.

If your group has several younger children you will really enjoy the Junior Detective options, with such fun things to do as learn about pirate crime, crime in the old west, and even meet McGruff the Crime Dog!
