1

USS Constellation
This historic sloop of war – today preserved as a National Historic Monument - was the last sail-only warship designed and built by the US Navy. She was launched on 26 August 1854 and commissioned on 28 July 1855 with Captain Charles H. Bell in command; from 1855–1858 USS Constellation performed largely diplomatic duties as part of the US Mediterranean Squadron. Second, in a series of 4 historic vessels bearing the name Constellation, she was the flagship of the African Squadron from 1859–1861. During this period USS Constellation disrupted the African slave trade by interdicting three slave ships and releasing the imprisoned Africans.

Fells Point Ghost Tour
Fell's Point in Baltimore, Maryland, was a rowdy seaport town. Its streets were full of sailors from foreign lands, immigrants anxious to being live anew, red-light ladies looking to make ends meet, and shady characters looking to scrub a living off the maritime industry. Imagine the restless spirits such a history might court! Grab your camera and head out on this popular walking tour to explore the myriad haunted landmarks, shops, and residences of historic Fells Point. But don't stray too far from your travel group; you never know when you'll find yourself bumping shoulders with the “lingering” past; expect plenty of chills and thrills on this haunted hike!

Fort McHenry
Fort McHenry, a star-shaped Baltimore landmark, is best known for its role in the War of 1812 when it successfully defended Baltimore Harbor from an attack by the British navy in the Chesapeake Bay. It was during the bombardment of Fort McHenry that Washington lawyer Francis Scott Key was inspired to pen "The Star-Spangled Banner," the poem that would eventually be set to the tune of "To Anacreon in Heaven" and become the United States National Anthem. The first official 49- and 50-star American flags were flown over Fort McHenry and are still located on the premises.

The Flag House and Star-Spangled Banner Museum
While visiting the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House, you and your travel group will enjoy an enchantingly immersive experience where guests become part of one of the most important stories of our nation's history – the sewing of the flag that inspired the penning of our National Anthem. The Flag House was the home and business place of Mary Pickersgill, the spirited maker of the flag; you’ll “meet” Miss Mary, get a handle on life in the 19th century and participate in a host of traditional activities that let you test your own Early American mettle – see for yourself what life was like in 1812!

American Visionary Art Museum
One of the most unique and entertaining stops you can make during your Baltimore visit is the American Visionary Art Museum, the popular art museum located in the Federal Hill neighborhood. This small museum provides a presentation and display of 'outsider art', the artists involved being self-taught and more out-of-the-box than most. The exhibits within are rotating and quite unusual, giving your group a chance to glimpse modern American art while still enjoying themselves. There are also two onsite sculpture plazas and a lush garden you will have to visit.

Toby's Dinner Theatre
Providing award-winning Broadway and original musical performances to the Baltimore Washington area, Toby's Dinner Theatre is an excellent choice for group entertainment during your trip. This theatre is located in Columbia, Maryland, just 25 minutes from Baltimore. It puts on 8 shows weekly, with both evening and matinee performances available. The theatre was first founded in 1979 by founder and director Toby Orenstein, who has seen over 200 productions and 100 Helen Hayes Award nominations in the 40 years the theatre has been up and running.

National Aquarium
This fantastic water world is one of Baltimore’s most popular attractions, featuring five levels and two glass pyramids housing everything from marine mammals, birds, and reptiles to more than 5,000 species of fish; over 17,000 animals reside at National Aquarium. Your student travel group is sure to enjoy the seal pool, the Jellies Invasion, daily dolphin shows, and a trek through lush tropical rainforest, home to sloths, piranhas, Screaming Pinhas, and the Blue-crowned Motmot! A variety of immersion tours let you get behind the scenes to experience the Aquarium from an insider’s perspective.

Maryland Science Center
Maryland Science Center grabbed a Best of Baltimore award for "Best Place to Take Kids" In 2006; in 2008 the popular attraction was named one of the “10-Best Science Centers for Families” by Parent's magazine. Three levels of fascinating exhibits, a planetarium, observatory, IMAX Theater, demo stage, and an impressive display of dinosaur skeletons continue to attract visitors to this engaging and entertaining interactive wonderland on the Inner Harbor.
