Birmingham Educational Tours

Historic, metropolitan, and bursting with Southern charm, Birmingham is at the top of the list for exciting travel destinations in the American south. Founded during the Reconstruction period after the Civil War, Birmingham grew from three small farming towns into the largest city in Alabama, evolving from railroad, steel, iron and mining industries.

Settled by English immigrants and named for a prominent British industrial city, Birmingham today is a wonderfully cultural, amazingly thrilling American urban center. Full of possibility for adventure, Birmingham has everything from relaxing Botanical Gardens to historical districts perfect for educational tours, upscale shopping centers like The Summit, and plenty of parks for outdoor lovers.

Having played a prominent role in the Civil Rights Movement, Birmingham is a wonderful place to explore eras past. Visit the Civil Rights Institute, a huge interactive museum complex that delves into the events and motivations of the historic movement. If history is what you're here for, you might also like to visit the Sloss Furnaces, a historic landmark and one of the iron-producing furnaces which helped build early Birmingham.

Birmingham isn't all about learning, though. There are loads of extremely fun, interesting, and all around amazing attractions for your student group to enjoy. Check out the exotic animals at the Birmingham Zoo, catch a live performance at the Alabama Theatre, or if you're a sports fan, check out the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and see a game at Legion Field or Regions Park.
