Welcome to Flattop Mountain, Alaska’s most visited and most climbed peak! This gorgeous natural hotspot is accessible by the highly traversed 1.5 miles, 1,350 vertical foot trail, a path that eventually leads you to panoramic views atop the football field-sized summit. Located just east of urban Anchorage, this mountain takes about 1 hour to fully experience, the panoramic views from the top showing your group everything from Denali to the Aleutian Islands. You can even just take in the scene from the parking lot overlook and still be highly impressed with what you see! Flattop Mountain provides your group with the perfect Anchorage city overlook, some of the best local hiking scenery, and the chance to get active while immersed in a new location! What more could your student group ask for?

While here in the Glen Alps the only difficult choice we think you’ll have to make is which trail to take, some of the most popular ones being Blueberry Hollow, Blueberry Loop, Will Akawi Lakes, or Anchorage Overlook. The hikes overlooks and vistas are unbeatable along those listed, though if you are looking for more of an adventure head the 5.5 miles up the rugged path to Wolverine Peak (it sounds intimidating but the views are worth it). If you were thinking of a more relaxing trip up the mountain grab a ticket for the Flattop Mountain Shuttle, running every day in season all day long! So enjoy a hike, rent some bikes, or pack some delicious picnic fares and enjoy the scenery here at one of the gorgeous local hotspots, Flattop Mountain.
