Franklin Square
Welcome to Franklin Square, a public park space that serves as an integral part of Historic Philadelphia.
This 8-acre park is one of the five original public greenspaces planned by William Penn in his original city layout in 1682. Today the park serves as 'Center City's favorite playtime oasis', holding a gorgeous fountain, the Parx Liberty Carousel, the highly unique Philly Mini-Golf Course, and the iconic SquareBurger eatery. Franklin Square also borders the Betsy Ross House and holds the popular Once Upon a Nation Storytelling Benches.
The storytelling benches, of which there are 13 total throughout the area, are clearly marked as such and offer free short story sessions of just a few minutes. There is a professional storyteller stationed at each throughout the day each Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Philly Minature Golf Course is another great historical learning opportunity, believe it or not, as it features 18 holes of Philadelphia historic hotspots such as Elfreth Alley and the Liberty Bell.
So stop by with your group and play a round of golf, catch a story, eat some seriously delicious food at SquareBurger, and if the sun is down, catch a light show at the fountain!
