George W Bush Pres. Library and Museum
Head to University Park in Dallas to find one of the most visited attractions in the region, the George W Bush Presidential Library and Museum. Located on Southern Methodist University’s campus you will find this astounding archival museum housing artifacts of the George W Bush Presidency, over 43,000 gifts received, and even a full-size replica of the White House's’ Oval Office. Open 9 am - 5 pm on weekdays and noon - 5 pm on Sundays, this museum provides the perfect opportunity for your student group to learn more about the presidency, judicial system, and history of George W Bush all at once, the perfect social studies or politics immersion experience!
The museum was built here in 2013 by architect Robert Stern with some additional work done on the 15-acre urban park outdoors filled with Texas native flora. This portion of the library and museum pays respect to Bush's’ continued effort in conservation and ecology. Some of the more popular museum highlights include the main exhibit A Nation Under Attack, complete with real pieces of steel from the 9/11 tragedy, Life in the White House, an Interactive Decision Points theater, the replica of the Oval Office, and even a 20ft, 360 degree LED screen showing multimedia clips throughout the day. If you work up an appetite while here head over Cafe 43 or the Courtyard Cafe, both with excellent lunch options for your entire group.
We suggest your group takes advantage of one of two things while here. First, the Dallas CityPASS. This pass will allow you admission into your choice of three of the top attractions in Dallas, including this museum, Perot, Geo-Deck, the Dallas Zoo, and much more. The passes last 9 days and will help your group save immensely. Second, if you are coming to this museum for strictly educational purposes, we suggest you take advantage of the ‘free field trip visits’ each Monday through Thursday. It is set at a 300 student limit per day for K-12, but is a great ‘resource for the study of the life and career of George W Bush while at the same time promoting a better understanding of the presidency, American history, and the importance of issues on Public Policy.’
