One of the most culturally enlightening places to visit while in San Jose is Japantown, located just blocks away from City Hall. This community is 150 years old, a unique ethnic neighborhood that provides a 'rare blend of business, culture, and historic resources'. It is actually one of the last 3 authentic Japantowns in the United States!

Japantown provides guests (and local residents) with a deliciously dynamic dining scene presenting regional Japanese fare, Japanese-American cuisine, Hawaiian foods, and Chinese dining options. Foodies will swoon over the diverse options! There are also various clothing stores, gift shops, art galleries, karaoke bars and the like throughout the neighborhood. Visit the Shuei-Do Manju Shop, Santo Market, or Kemako Ramen.

For something a bit more educational during your visit head to the Japanese-American Museum, the education and history center that teaches all about immigration and the WWII internment in the area, and in the US in general. Next, find some peace at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, or perhaps just take a stroll and enjoy the murals throughout the neighborhood.

If you happen to be visiting on a Sunday you are in luck, because there is a Sunday Farmer's Market selling fresh cut flowers, baked goods, Asian greens, and so much more!
