Welcome to La Villita Arts Village, the historic arts and culture community located at the south bank of the River Walk in downtown San Antonio. This 16 acre, 1 square block area holds galleries, stores, and gift shops featuring various pottery, jewelry, Mexican Folk Art, and much more. There are also several authentic (and really delicious) eateries around the area as well.

La Villita was first established in 1845 and has earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places list. The architecture you will see throughout ranges from basic adobe to early Victorian and Texas Limestone. Most buildings will have a commemorative marker near it explaining it's architecture style and ties to the community. The entire conglomerate of 'romantic courtyards, spacious plazas, and historic architectural types' really combine to create one of the most charming spots in all of San Antonio.

Be sure to set aside plenty of time to sightsee, brush up on local history at the various historic buildings, shop at such stores as Besarte and Bird and Pear, and eat some of the most delicious foods in downtown San Antonio.

(We suggest stopping at the Guadalajara Grill)
