Lan Su Chinese Garden

Lan Su Chinese Garden

The Lan Su Chinese Garden is one of the greatest treasures and most interesting sites in Portland! This garden is a collaboration between Portland and Suzhou, its sister city in China’s Jiangsu province. This 40,000 square foot garden is famous for its Ming Dynasty Gardens, the most authentic gardens of the sort outside of China, built by Suzhou artisans. This creative wonder mixed with celebrated botanical garden aims to provide a powerfully inspiring experience based on a 2,000-year-old Chinese tradition melding art, architecture, design, and nature in perfect harmony.

Once here your group will travel through time to another era and world entirely as they peek through this gorgeous window into the culture, history, and tradition. The garden provides something new and different each season, as mother nature habitually does. The name of the garden literally translates into the "Garden of Awakening Orchids," Lan meaning "orchid" and Su meaning "arise." Guests of all ages will love the fun enriching activities throughout the garden including tours, mahjong, tai chi, calligraphy, performances, art, tea, and lectures regarding every subject from acupuncture to cooking with native herbs. Enjoy this spiritual utopia, your group's escape from everyday problems where they can discover their true selves through nature!
