Welcome to the McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture, the Smithsonian Affiliate museum located on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Established in 1963, this highly popular museum features several different exhibits that range in subject from local geology to popular decorative arts. You can find information on archaeology, anthropology, fossils, ancient Egypt, and even local civil war battles here, ensuring there is something interesting for everyone in your group to enjoy during your visit. Some of the more popular permanent exhibits you may want to make time for are the Tennesee Freshwater Mussels, Human Origins, and Battle of Fort Sanders exhibits. There are regularly changing special exhibits to explore as well.

Student groups, in particular, will enjoy the K-12 educational experience opportunities, with several onsite resources and objects to utilize that furthers education in science, social sciences, and visual arts.

While there are no onsite eating options there is an Einstein Brothers Bagel right next door, and there is an onsite Museum Store offering snacks, educational toys, gifts, books, and local art.
