Memorial Day in Palm Springs

You are probably familiar with the most popular Memorial Day destination, Washington D.C, but what about all the popularly overlooked cities such as today's feature, Palm Springs. 

Each year over 2,000 people flock to the Palm Springs Air Museum to see the annual Memorial Day Flower Drop and Air Fair, a true spectacle to see for any wishing to pay their respects and have an entertaining show to boot.

The service is 'dedicated to all our fallen comrades, who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms'. The entire day's events include various flight exhibitions, a live performance by the Heatwave Band, the 82nd Airborne WWII Re-Enactors, onsite food provided by the Freedom Fighters Cafe, and even the Totally Twisted Balloon company and Harpo the Clown for the kiddos.

The brief Memorial Day Service that includes the actual flower drop starts at 1 pm and is preceded by the iconic Missing Man formation, a great intro to a day full of fun air show features.

The 1 pm main event features a B-25 Mitchell Bomber dropping over 3,000 white and red carnations, a both beautiful and highly respectful tradition that you certainly don't want to miss. The event is not free, but parking is. Portable chairs are recommended for the event, also
