A military and maritime museum located in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum is one of the only of its kind, offering an in depth, interactive look at the military on the water, in the air, and beyond. Centered around the aircraft carrier, Intrepid, this fabulous facility is a one of a kind, spectacular educational outlet for student groups.
Delving into history, science, and military service, the Intrepid Museum shows collections of artifacts, exhibitions of retired service vehicles, and multi-media displays honoring the men and women who served our country. Visiting, you'll be able to board the Intrepid and see its inner workings, quarters, and learn its history as a NASA recovery vessel as well as a WWII fighting ship. From there visit the Space Shuttle Pavilion and see the space shuttle Enterprise, go outside and see the submarine Growler, the only American guided missile submarine open to the public, and also the record breaking British Airways Concorde. Walk through the aircraft collection and marvel at the amazing constructions, visit the Exploreum Hall for historical collections, participate in a simulator or take an audio tour of the museum complex.
Guided tours are available for groups upon request though audio tours are standard and offer a go-at-your-own-pace style of informative touring.
