If you have seen the iconic 1939 film Gone with the Wind (and if you haven’t, you should) then you’ve already seen this next stop in Little Rock, the Old Mill in T.R. Pugh Memorial Park. This breathtakingly gorgeous mill was built in 1933, designed to look as if it was built in the 1800s. This authentic reproduction of an old water-powered grist mill appears in the opening scene of Gone with the Wind, and is thought to be the only building remaining from the film! The striking structure of the Old Mill is an iconic landmark for the region, as well as a historic landmark that is on the National Register for Historic Places! It’s the perfect spot to get a glimpse of history, as well as an unbeatable photo opportunity, so be sure to bring your camera!

Once here your group will have the option to take a 30-minute guided tour of the mill, grounds, and surrounding memorial park to get more detailed information about the area. Inside the mill, you will see an authentic 1828 grist mill, rocks excavated in the 1820s, and two original milestones placed 150 years ago by Jefferson Davis. You will also learn about the Choctaw and Cherokee path through this park and about Senor Dionicio Rodriguez, the Mexican sculptor, and artist whose concrete work is featured throughout the site. Be sure to pay close attention to all the sculptures of toadstools, tree stumps, and tree-branch entwined bridges that connect this site to the park, and also be sure to wear your walking shoes to comfortably see it all!
