SakeOne

SakeOne

SakeOne, or what first began as Japan American Beverage Company, is the unique sake importer and creator that began in Forest Grove in 1992. This establishment is a celebrated Japan and United States partnership that first served the community as the number one importer of authentic Japanese sake, then took to its own and began a personal market for Oregon sake lovers, a market with a reputation that has spread across the United States. The owners chose Oregon because they believe it has the best quality water, a highly important component in exquisite sake making. They chose the east slope of the coast range in Forest Grove and soon changed their name to better suit their business and goal: to be the number one sake company in America. As of right now SakeOne has won more awards than any other sake company in the United States (one of 6 total) and currently stands as the only producer in the state!

Once here your group will have the opportunity to take a brewery tour and learn all about how sake is made. You will be taken through the complicated process of rice polishing, steaming, adding mold and yeast bacteria, and the all-important fermentation process. The tour guides will emphasize the point that sake is supposed to be chilled, not served warm, from a wine glass as a fine white wine would be, unlike common American misconceptions. This teaches your group important aspects of authentic Japanese culture, as well as Japanese traditions and manners. Peruse popular products such as Momokawa and Moonstone, or try cocktails such as the Sakura-Do, 50 Sensei, or Asian Mary in the tasting room. Before you go you may want to stop by the shop to pick up souvenir glassware, apparel, or exotic and local sake spirits.
