The San Antonio Museum of Art, or SAMA, was first established in 1981 and has since then wowed guests with its world-class collection of art.

Renowned for having the most comprehensive ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian art collection in the southern United States, SAMA will provide your group with some serious art, culture, and history learning opportunities. The collection 'takes you around the world and through 5,000 years of art', and you can explore it on your own or with any of the many different school and group tour options. The tours have age-specific curriculum coverage for students, with some examples being America the Beautiful, Around the World in 50 Minutes, Asian Caravan, and Science and Art Converge.

If you choose to explore the museum on your own we suggest visiting the following areas:

  • Asian Art Wing
  • Nelson A Rockefeller Latin American Art Wing
  • Texas Art
  • Contemporary Art
  • European Art
  • Islamic Art
  • Ocean Art

Your group may also opt-in to eat onsite at the Tuscan inspired Italian eatery Tre Trattoria, which serves up some of the tastiest kinds of pasta, flatbread pizzas, and antipasti. It also has some of the best riverside views!
