Located on the San Jose State University campus, the Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies holds the largest collection of Beethoven materials outside of Europe! This museum is devoted solely to the life, works, and accomplishments of Ludwig van Beethoven, who lived from 1770 to 1827. The museum was first established in 1983 after namesake Ira F. Brilliant donated his personal collection of Beethoven related artifacts to the University.

Here at the museum, your group will be able to take a docent-led tour, organize a special tour, or participate in any educational programs, concerts, or lectures possibly taking place during your visit. A popular tour choice is a 90-minute journey around the museum diving into the 'Historical Keyboard Instruments' and the fundamental differences between the 3 most common keyboard instruments of the 18th and 19th centuries: the clavichord, harpsichord, and fortepiano.

We guarantee all the music lovers in your group will love this visit, and learn quite a bit they didn't know before while here!
