The Muse

The Muse

Welcome to The Muse, the premier children's science museum of Knoxville! The Muse is a place for kids to 'play, learn, and discover', a science wonderland filled with several interactive activities and hands-on exhibits. There are play spaces for the little tikes, classroom experiences for students of all ages, and daily programs for both kids and adults to take part in.

One of the biggest draws to The Muse is the onsite planetarium, a Warped Media Full Dome projection system that serves as Knoxville's only public access planetarium. When you bring your students here on a field trip you will get a chance to participate in a classroom program, see a planetarium movie, and spend time in a specific exhibit gallery. The planetarium movies play every hour on the half hour and last about 20 to 40 minutes. Your group will have several options, such as the Knoxville Skies Star Tour, Sunstruck, IBEX, and Cosmic Colors.

Be sure to check the calendar to see what special event is happening during your visit, with Muse Mondays, Science and Art A La Cart Fridays, Saturday Science Connections, and Sunday Art Inspiration. It should be noted, however, that the museum is only open until noon on Mondays and is therefore not open to large field trip groups on that day.
