Washington Park Arboretum

In the 230 acres located on the shores of Lake Washington are more than 40,000 trees, shrubs, and vines at the Washington Park Arboretum. Walk along the shoreline, take in the wildlife, and the marvel at the majestic trees in the Woodland Garden or Witt Winter Garden. Bring your group to the Washington Park Arboretum for a tranquil yet lively tour of exotic plants and Seattle’s natural beauty.

Begin your visit by stopping at the Graham Visitors Center to pick up a trail map, a plant list, and talk to a botanist. Visit the gardens on a guided tour or download the audio tour and take a leisurely self-guided walk through the park. See native and exotic trees from all over the globe. American Oaks, Maples, Birches, and Hawthorns share space with Japanese Maples, Witch Hazel, and more in this beautifully landscaped park situated on the languid shores of Lake Washington. Stop by the Japanese Garden with authentic Japanese landscaping and traditional koi ponds complete with turtles.

Get a more in-depth experience at the Arboretum with Weekend Walks tours, Family Nature Walks, or private group tours that are seasonally themed to better encompass the gems in each season. As the park is managed by the University of Washington and the City of Seattle, the Arboretum strives to educate the public and offers special educational programs for school trips. While you are in the area, try the University of Washington’s Center for Urban Horticulture to see more gardens and wildlife.

If your group is searching for a beautiful location to host a wedding, reception, party, or other special occasions, the Washington Park Arboretum is a gorgeous location with several possible rental spaces. Outdoor areas are available along with indoor halls and for educational or corporate events, classrooms and conference rooms are available.
