What’s New at Disney Summer 2017

There are a lot of new and exciting things happening at Disney this summer, both in Orlando and Anaheim. From the much-anticipated opening of Pandora - The World of Avatar to the reinstatement of Anaheim Electrical Parade classic show, this is certainly the summer to plan a trip to Disney with your group.

Orlando

  • Pandora - The World of Avatar - There are so many exciting things coming into place for The World of Avatar this summer, you are definitely not going to want to miss out. Floating mountains, bioluminescent rainforests, and Na’vi Shaman knowledge will all greet you within this new section of the park. Here are some specific elements to look forward to during your visit:- Avatar Flight of Passage  - 3D ride on the back of a banshee.
    - Na’vi River Journey - Reed boat ride through a hidden river.
    - Windtraders Merchandise Shop - Na’vi cultural items galore.
  • Miss Adventure Falls - This family raft attraction takes you on a fast-paced journey through Typhoon Lagoon, a new exciting wet n wild adventure your group is sure to love.
  • Music of Pixar LIVE! Symphony of Characters - Join in on all the character fun with this new Pixar-themed musical, with soundtrack scores from Cars, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, Up, and Toy Story. The show happens 3 times nightly this summer within the Theater of the Stars, each show lasting 40 minutes.
  • Happily Ever After - This has been a popular show for awhile now within Magic Kingdom, but this summer it has been revamped with the best laser, light, and projection show yet, with over 25 films featured in the show’s display. The firework show itself will also be new and improved.
  • Choza de Margarita - A great new dining option arrives this season at Disney World within the Mexican Pavilion at the World Showcase, the eatery featuring classic Mexican cuisine in a pleasant al fresco setting.
  • The Edison - Another new dining option that is a fun and unique addition to Disney Springs will come in as a 1920’s electric company themed venue featuring live entertainment, palm readers, and tasty American classic foods. Be sure to check out the other newly opened eateries from 2017 such as the Planet Hollywood Observatory and Polite Pig.
  • Universal Studios Fast and Furious: Supercharged (2018) - This action-packed adventure area will feature all your favorite cars, characters, and fast-paced thrills throughout.
  • Christmastime at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Winter 2017) - This winter head to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a Christmas celebration straight out of Hogwarts. Enjoy a holiday show at the castle complete with projections of movie clips, as well as festive Harry Potter themed Christmas treats throughout.

Anaheim

  • Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! - Replacing the Tower of Terror is the new Guardians of the Galaxy themed attraction, Mission: BREAKOUT! This accelerated dark tower drop ride is located within Disney’s California Adventure park and will certainly not disappoint.
  • Main Street Electrical Parade - This popular parade show from Disneyland’s past is coming back this summer for a limited time (until mid-August), featuring all your favorite classic Disney characters. Be sure to wave to the leading engineer, Goofy, and all his friends along the way.
  • Red Rose Taverne - Red Rose Taverne is a new dining opportunity within Fairytale Land, the eatery featuring Beauty and the Beast themed eats and decor. You can also catch the Beauty and the Beast show after dinner next door!
  • California Adventure Summer of Heroes - 2017 is officially dubbed the ‘Summer of Superheroes’, so take advantage of the new theme and visit all your favorite heroes at the park, from Groot to Captain America.
  • Universal Hollywood Toy Story Land (2018) - Though the opening is set well in the future (2018), we can’t help but mention the new addition of Toy Story Land, an 11-acre park within Hollywood Studios that will immerse you into Andy’s backyard with your toy character favorites, Buzz and Woody.
  • Star Wars Land - Of course there is a lot of buzz around the park over the new Star Wars Land addition, the new section complete with all your favorite Star Wars activities such as Jedi Training and classic character interactions.
  • Rivers of Light - Combining live performances, floating set pieces, and an exciting musical score, this celebration of animals and nature is a show you won’t want to miss. This attraction opens at Discovery River, a great addition to the parks nighttime performance lineup.
